Emilie Carson, age 14, who has been traveling overseas to do missions work since she was 6 years old, says, “The first time I went to South Africa, I didn’t know what to expect. I thought we would be sleeping outside with the animals like lions and giraffes. I didn’t want to go. We spent a month there and stayed in a house on the beach, and I cried when I had to come home. I played with the children, and we got to see a lot of the country, including 2 game parks. I have been back many times, and want to move there when I am older. I know about Apartheid. I have seen what poverty, not enough jobs, not enough hope, and AIDS can do to a community of wonderful people. I am a dancer, and am now making plans to lead dance camps for children in Cape Town. Missionary travel changed my life.
