Itinerary

DAY 01 – SAT. NOV. 07 – DEPART CLEVELAND FOR ROME
We begin our tour of a lifetime with a late morning departure from Cleveland. We connect with other travelers for our late afternoon flight to Rome Fiumicino airport via United Airlines.

DAY 02 – SUN. NOV. 08 – ROME
We are served dinner and breakfast on our overnight flight and arrive Rome early morning. We enjoy the “glory that was Rome” as we tour some of the famous landmarks like the Mamertime prison, the Forum, Arch of Titus, the Colosseum and the Church of St. Peter’s in Chains before we head for dinner and overnight at the beautiful WESTIN EXCELSIOR Hotel.

DAY 03 – MON. NOV. 09 – ROME
We begin our full-day of touring this great city by a stop at the Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel, where we see works by Rembrandt & Michelangelo. We marvel at the majesty of St. Peter’s Basilica, then turn our attention to Scala Sancta, which provoked doubts for Martin Luther, the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain before we return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 04 – TUE. NOV. 10 – DEPART ROME FOR TEL AVIV
Following an early wake-up call, our El Al flight departs for Tel Aviv and this morning. Upon arrival we clear passport control, meet our guide and transfer by private motor coach to our hotel in Tel Aviv for dinner and overnight at the CARLTON BEACH Hotel.

DAY 05 – WED. NOV. 11 – BEERSHEBA / BORDER CROSSING / AQABA
After breakfast we proceed to Beersheba, the ancient home of Abraham to see the ruins and archeological site. We move on through the Negev desert and marvel at the Ramon Crater, where we learn about the Wilderness wandering of the ancient Israelites. After lunch, we head for Timna and the Wilderness Tabernacle before we cross the border in Eilat to Aqaba for our hotel for dinner, relaxation and overnight at the INTERCONTINENTAL HOTEL in Aqaba.

DAY 06 – THU. NOV.12 – AQABA / PETRA / DEAD SEA
In the morning we depart Aqaba and drive to Petra, the ancient Nabatean capital and “Rose Red City half as old as time.” We’ll see the spectacular “city of the dead,” with its famed gorge, ancient streets, temples, dwelling places and tombs carved in solid rock. Our visit includes a two-mile walk through the famous Siq (the natural gorge) to arrive at the Treasury. We can see Roman temple ruins of the Roman city, the Nabatean Judgment Hall, palace tombs, famous Urn Temple and the Roman Amphitheater. A climb of several hundred steps to the “high places” might appeal to the adventurous. We leave Petra and head to the Dead Sea. Dinner and overnight at the DEAD SEA MARRIOTT HOTEL

DAY 07- FRI. NOV. 13 – BEYOND THE JORDAN / DEAD SEA EXPERIENCE
After breakfast, we visit the baptismal site where John baptized Jesus at Bethany Beyond the Jordan (John 1:26-28). We move on to Mt. Nebo, where Moses stood to view the Promised Land. After lunch we spend the afternoon relaxing at our hotel or floating in the Dead Sea. Optional spa treatments are available at our hotel where we enjoy dinner and overnight.

DAY 08 – SAT. NOV. 14 – BORDER CROSSING / JERICHO / TIBERIAS
Early in the morning, we cross the King Hussein Bridge into Israel and head for the tel of Jericho – a favorite spot for archaeologists. We enjoy an excellent view of the Mount of Temptation. Jericho is an excellent location to buy world-famous Hebron pottery. Following a stop for shopping and lunch, we depart for Gan Hashlosha, near Gideon’s Spring, which feeds the Jordan for our baptism. We conclude the day at the incredible ruins of Beit Shan, featuring eighteen layers of civilization where Saul and his sons were nailed to the city wall (1 Samuel 31:10). Dinner and overnight at the U BOUTIQUE HOTEL in Tiberias.

DAY 09 – SUN. NOV. 15 – AROUND THE SEA OF GALILEE
We begin the day with a memorable boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Then we follow some of the stories in Mark 4-6 about the ministry of Jesus. Our stops include the Mt. of Beatitudes where Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount. We move on to Capernaum, our Lord’s hometown for two years (Matt.4:13), and marvel at multitudes that were attracted to the miracles performed by Jesus. Our bus climbs into the Golan Heights where we arrive at the base of Mt. Hermon. Banyas, the Caesarea Philippi of the Bible, is a main water source for the Jordan River. Here Peter made his great declaration about Jesus (Mk. 8:27ff). We stop at Magdala to see the remnants of a 1st Century synagogue which likely was visited by our Lord. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 10 – MON. NOV. 16 – NAZARETH / JACOB’S WELL
An early walk along the shore provides a spectacular memory of sunrise over the Sea of Galilee. We begin the day at Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus to visit the Church of the Annunciation and see archeological ruins from the 1st Century. We move on to the tel of Megiddo, one of Joshua’s victories, which dates to 4,000 B.C. We look down on the Valley of Armaggeddon, when this period of world history concludes with the final battle (Revelation 16:16). We stop for lunch on our way to Nablus, then ascend the winding road to Mount Gerizim, the Hill of Blessing (Deuteronomy 27) for the breathtaking view of Mount Ebal, the hill of curses. Then we visit Jacob’s Well at Sychar, where Jesus spoke with the Samaritan woman (John 4). We enjoy dinner and overnight at the MAMILLA HOTEL in Jerusalem.

DAY 11 – TUE. NOV. 17 – BETHLEHEM / HOLOCAUST AND ISRAEL MUSEUM
After breakfast we travel to Bethlehem to visit the Church of the Nativity and the Shepherds’ fields, where God first saw a manger through human eyes. We make time for shopping for olive wood from Bethlehem, then drive to the Herodian, the mountain fortress constructed by King Herod, where he watched for disturbances in the city of Jerusalem. After lunch we move across Jerusalem and turn our attention to Yad Vashem (The Holocaust Museum) to be reminded of the recent tragedies of Jewish people and the rebirth of the modern State of Israel. We then visit the Israel Museum where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed, as well as an outdoor scale model of the city as it looked in Jesus’ time. We return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 12 – WED. NOV. 18 – JERUSALEM
We begin the day with an early departure from the hotel in order to visit the Temple Mount. As we walk toward the Mughrabi Gate, we look down at the Western Wall. On the Temple Mount, we not only observe the home to two of Islam’s holiest sites – the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque – but are also reminded of the two Jewish temples built there by Solomon and Herod. We exit the Temple Mount and stop to visit the remnants of the Pools of the Bethesda where Jesus healed the lame man (John 5). A visit to the Temple Treasures Institute reminds us that preparations are being made today for the construction of the third Jewish temple. The remainder of the day is focused on the Jewish history of this unforgettable city with visits to the City of David, including the recently opened Pilgrim Path, the Southern Steps, the Western Wall, and the Rockefeller Archeological Park. If we have time, we will visit Mt. Zion, the tomb of King David and the Upper Room before returning to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 13 – THU. NOV. 19 – BETHANY / EIN GEDI / MASADA / QUMRAN
To start the day, we head to Bethany, the home of Lazarus and his sisters, Mary and Martha. We move on to the desert oasis called Ein Gedi, where David hid from King Saul (1 Samuel 24). After lunch we visit Masada, where we ascend high on the wilderness mountain by way of the cable car to the fortress built by King Herod. Here we survey the ruins of the fortifications, waterworks, synagogue, temples and palaces. To conclude the day, we visit Qumran, the site of the most significant archeological discovery of the 20th Century, the Dead Sea Scrolls, before returning to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 14 – FRI. NOV. 20 – OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM
We begin our final day in Jerusalem with a visit to Gordon’s Calvary and the Garden Tomb for communion and worship. We ascend to the top of the Mt of Olives to view the Church of the Ascension. We then follow the path Jesus took during His “Palm Sunday” ride into Jerusalem. We view the city from the courtyard of the Church Of All Nations where Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane. We enter the Old City through the Lion’s Gate and pass through the crowded streets as we follow the “Way of Sorrows,” the Via Dolorosa, to Calvary and to the tomb of Christ at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Our afternoon features shopping on David Street or optional visits in the Old City before we head for our farewell dinner and then are transferred to Ben Gurion airport for our flight home. Farewell dinner at the Ambassador Hotel

DAY 15 – SAT. NOV. 21- ARRIVE U.S.A.
We arrive early this morning and transfer to our domestic flights home filled with life-changing memories of what it was like to walk in the footsteps of Moses and Jesus during our visit to the Holy Land.
