The travel bug bit me when I was 17 years old. Growing up in a teeny tiny country town in Texas, I had the most inspiring Spanish teacher from Argentina that didn’t stick to the textbooks to educate her students. We had dance lessons, potluck meals, and other activities that not only helped us learn the language but teach us about different Spanish-speaking cultures all around the world. At the end of the year she put together a group trip to Spain and you bet I was on that plane.
Since then it has been difficult to keep my feet on the ground. I spent seven months living in Australia, backpacking from Sydney to Cape Tribulation with my dog. I have traveled to Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean, all over the United States, as well as Mexico and the Caribbean. Traveling is truly my passion. Each place I have been has taught me valuable lessons of how to travel smarter. Lots of awkward and frustrating mistakes along the way has certainly made me the confident traveler I am today.
I graduated from Texas A&M University in Galveston Island with a degree in sustainable tourism. My education at Texas A&M taught me how important it is to respect, protect, and preserve the environment and native cultures when traveling. These are factors that influence my decisions when building itineraries for my clients. I love getting lost in research for my clients, learning about new (to me) destinations. Cultural immersion is my favorite part about traveling and I glow with excitement when I meet like-minded travel clients.
When I’m not daydreaming about my next trip or consulting others on their travel plans I am usually out hiking, kayaking, or road-tripping with my dog, Suki (yes, the same pooch that traveled Australia with me). I gravitate toward bodies of water whether I am scuba diving, sailing, or seeking out waterfalls. I look forward to building some group travel itineraries based on these passions here at Wilcox Travel.
